Awards, Reviews & Star Ratings

US Review The rain of bright, many-faceted baubles from outer space may or may not be an invasion, but the delighted children name them trillions. And when General Hartman reacts with martial law and tactical nuclear weapons, and the scientific astronaut Icarus Blythe retreats into philosophical despair, only boy genius Scott Houghton manages to establish communication with - and eventually mastery over - the enigmatic visitors. The trillions' capacity for imitating man's constructions and their message to Scott - Hate Us - are sufficiently puzzling, but Fisk's pessimistic, one-dimensional interpretation of human nature is more brittle than chilling.
