By Newman, SueIllustrated by Willis, Paul A.
The story is based on an actual event when a small group of nesting NZ Dotterels held up the building of a new busway by the Auckland Harbour Bridge motorway. The confrontation with a bulldozer provides the climax to the story and a helicopter, the solution. But before this, a yo...ung pair of birds travel around the landmarks of Auckland and face situations which graphically illustrate their challenges for survival. Intricately drawn fact files add details about the New Zealand Dotterel and the iconic Auckland landmarks and activities themselves.Read more
