Sue holds a Masters of Arts in Creative Writing (Massey), awarded with distinction. A former physiotherapist and acupuncturist, she writes poetry and fiction for children and for adults.
Her fiction and poetry is widely published in New Zealand and internationally. Some of her work has been translated into Hungarian, Romanian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
