Set in Fortezza (Lucca in our world), the Stravagante is Laura. Desperately unhappy, Laura has resorted to secretly self-harming. When she finds her talisman, a small silver dagger, she stravagates with it to Fortezza, where she meets her Stravagante, Abele, a soldier.
