Bug Off! sets 13 humorous poems about insects (along with a nonfiction prose paragraphs for each creature) against startling, close-up photographs of brilliant-colored bugs. For example. Honey bee Mine is a love poem for a blossom, written in the voice of a bee; it's accompanied ...by a description of how bees make honey and a dramatic photo of a bee in flight. Insects included are a fly, praying mantis, ant, honeybee, butterfly, lovebug, daddy long-legs, spider, dragonfly, tick, ladybug, grasshopper, and a swarm of bugs. The award-winning team of Jane Yolen and Jason Stemple combine playful poems with intimate photographs to capture the mystery and even the beauty of creepy-crawlies.Read more
