Herbert George H.G. Wells (1866-1946) was a prolific English writer best known for his science-fiction novels. His most notable works of science fiction include The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, and The War of the Worlds. While he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature four times, his novels were never selected for that top literary honor. Regardless, they remain timeless pieces of science fiction. Aaron Parrett is Professor of English Literature at the University of Great Falls in Montana. He holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Georgia and is the author of The Translunar Narrative in the Western Tradition, Montana: Then and Now, and Literary Butte: A History in Novels and Film.
