I got up and walked the Te Araroa is a factual account of my end-to-end (through) hike of the Te Araroa trail which runs 3,063 kilometres from the top of New Zealand to the bottom. The official trail was opened in 2012 although it has been in the planning for many years. It is m...ainly on trails; however, it also passes through some villages and cities. I narrate what I am seeing and feeling and of the people I meet. It will describe to the reader the many high and low points and daily physical and mental challenges that a 119 day end-to-end hike will put the hiker through. Stories of being dropped off by boat into a high security area and how I got out; of being called into Kiwis' houses to stay the night or just to have a coffee; falling down the side of a mountain into a raging icy-cold river and thinking it was all about to end. It was the hike of a lifetime and probably the best way to see New Zealand and its wonderful people. I have now completed several long walks around the world however Te Araroa is still one of my favourites.

Felix and Livia are two runaways who are being pursued across the Roman empire, from the darkest, dampest corner of Gaul to the dry, desert sands of Tadmor. They must reach Rome by the Ides of April to rescue Livia's brother before he is sent into the arena to do battle with lion...s - and perhaps a vicious ostrich or two! Along the way, the pair are helped (and hindered) by a selfish sacred chicken, a foolish camel and a grumpy magic carpet as they encounter bandits, a shipwreck and a false accusation. Will they save Livia's brother in time, or will they all fall victim to the chicken's curse?

Now the Diviners must travel to Bountiful, Nebraska, in hopes of joining forces with Sarah Beth and stopping the King of Crows and his army of the dead forever. But as rumours of towns becoming ghost-towns and the dead developing unprecedented powers begin to surface, all hope seems lost. In this sweeping finale, the Diviners will be forced to confront their greatest fears and learn to rely on one another if they hope to save the nation - and world - from catastrophe... Joss, Hero and Drake are prentice paladeros, cowboy-knights that ride dinosaurs and fight to protect their Kingdom. Now, they face the ultimate battle: themselves. The Kingdom of Ai is under siege. The Shadow God and his Court of Thralls are ready for war, and Joss and his brethr...en have a critical mission - to marshal the forces that will defend their land. But not everyone is willing to heed the call, least of all the former paladeros known as the Nameless. And with traitors in their midst, their mission is treacherous even before they've encountered the ever-growing Court of Thralls - and their fire-breathing dragons. Faced with more enemies than ever before - including people he once trusted with his life - Joss must somehow convince the Kingdom's potential allies that their cause is worth fighting for. But with his faith in the paladero way of life fading fast, he must first convince himself ... In the final instalment of this mesmerising fantasy series by Steven Lochran, readers are taken on a breathtaking ride through the kingdom of Thunder Realm. Perfect for fans of Diana Wynne Jones and the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan.
