A landmark biography of a singular and important Australian photographer, Olive Cotton, by an award-winning writer - beautifully written and deeply moving. Olive Cotton was one of Australia's pioneering modernist photographers, a woman whose talent was recognised as equal to her ...first husband's, Max Dupain, and a significant artist in her own right. Together, Olive and Max could have been Australia's answer to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, or Ray and Charles Eames. The photographic work they produced during the 1930s and '40s was extraordinary and distinctively their own. But in the early 1940s Cotton quit their marriage and Sydney studio to live with second husband Ross McInerney and raise their two children in a tent on a farm near Cowra - later moving to a hut that had no running water, electricity or telephone. Despite these barriers, and not having access to a darkroom, Olive continued her photography but away from the public eye. Then a landmark exhibition in Sydney in 1985 shot her back to fame, followed by a major retrospective at the AGNSW in 2000. Australian photography would never be same. This is a moving and powerful story about talent, creativity and women, and about what it means for an artist to manage the competing demands of art, work, marriage, children and family.

A compelling collection of documentary images showing both the communities and cultures which make up the multicultural melting pot that is... London. These photos, carefully curated here for the first time, bear witness to the real heart and soul of the people that make up the metropolis. Narratives and interactions depicting scenes of love, hope, struggle and everyday life. This is his photographic love letter to London. A city of possibilities which has in fact become the impossible city. The intensity, the craziness, the inequality, the mayhem, the conflict, the injustice, the beauty and the essence of what makes the city what it was, what it is and what it will be. Each stolen moment recording and documenting a different perception of both the place and its people. This is survival in the city.

Journeys into the Wild is a poetic escape to a fragile and breathtaking wilderness, with celebrated photographer Peter Dombrovskis as our guide. A silhouette of a damaged twisted Pencil Pine, wearing a fine dusting of fresh snow and precariously positioned above the Pool of Siloa...m in the Walls of Jerusalem National Park, is like a portrait of a lively old friend. A fresh ice sheet, uniquely patterned, is coloured by the alpenglow, as the day's first sunlight reflects on a Cradle Mountain tarn. A flowering white Olearia pinifolia at the base of a massive boulder on Mount Wellington is a study in permanency and transience. Here, too, are photographs of the Snowy Mountains and the tropical rainforests of Queensland's Daintree and Hinchinbrook Island, Fiji and Borneo. Bob Brown and Peter Dombrovskis forged their friendship in the battle to save the Gordon and Franklin rivers. As a founder of the Wilderness Society, Bob organised the blockade of dam works on the Franklin, recruiting Peter and his iconic photography to make the case for conservation over profit. During the campaign, Bob accompanied Peter on one of his kayak trips down the Franklin and observed his process as a photographer. Peter would go on to take one of the most famous photographs in Australian history, Morning Mist, Rock Island Bend, Franklin River, an image that featured in calendars and diaries across Australia and that was integral to the success of the campaign. The two remained friends until Peter's death in 1996.
