The idea of writing their own stories and poems in both their Fijian tongue and in English excited and motivated a group of Fijian families in Wellington to gather together to create their own book. Initially unsure of themselves as writers the group drew strength from each oth...er's efforts and the sharing of their work. Using their natural storytelling talents both children and adults wrote stories and poems that captured memories of family trips and holidays in Aotearoa and visits to Fiji. Many recalled experiences of village life and family back in Fiji and acknowledged that although now living in Aotearoa these memories still connect families back to their Fijian homeland. This is reflected in the title of this book Voqa ni Veisemati, which translates as Echoes of Connection. This book was published with support from the Ministry of Education Te Te Tahuhu o Te Matauranga and is part of the Read NZ Te Pou Muramura Writers in Communities programme.

Legacy crosses boundaries: it is a book for art lovers, as much as for poets. The cover illustration is Doris Lusk's watercolour Late Afternoon, Lake Wakatipu, 1958, by courtesy of Te Papa Tongarewa. This is a large format book, for browsing - a serious coffee table book. Lega...cy is the third book of poetry by Robynanne Milford that explores in poetry the (almost invisible) women of early Central Otago, the first two titles being Aspiring Light (Pukeko Publications, 2015) and Finding Voice: Women on the Dustan 1860 - 1900 (Whitestream Press, 2018).

            Lines of Flight

            Lines of Flight (Paperback)

            By Pittaway, Gail; Munro, Sarah

Lines of Flight is a novel which mesmerises its audience with every page, combining the mythological world of poetry with ethereal watercolour paintings. Inspired by a similar style of work she had read, Munro called on her Wintec School of Media Arts colleague for suggestions... on a poet who would be open to collaboration and had a specific niche or interest in writing poetry about birds. To which Pittaway quipped in response, "Well, what about me?"
