The powerful story of how Greta Thunberg and her family tackled their own crisis by taking on an even bigger one: the fate of our planet When Greta Thunberg was eleven, her parents Svante and Malena, and her little sister Beata, were facing a crisis in their own home. Greta had s...topped eating and doctors were deeply concerned about her health. Her mother and father reconfigured their lives to care for her, while Greta and Beata struggled to cope. In the midst of this, Greta's desperate parents came to realize that there was another more pressing source of her distress: her imperiled future on a rapidly heating planet. Steered by Greta's determination to understand the truth and generate change, the family began to see the deep connections between their own suffering and the planet's. They discovered that their struggles at home could be healed by taking global action. And Greta, seeing that there were no gray areas when it comes to the survival of the planet, decided to go on strike from school, igniting a worldwide rebellion. Our House Is On Fire, co-written by a remarkable family of change-makers, is the story of how an unknown young girl in Sweden, with her family at her side, became the leader of a global movement.

Influenza was the great killer of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and the so-called 'Russian flu' killed around 1 million people across Europe in 1889-93 - including the second-in-line to the British throne, the Duke of Clarence. The Spanish flu of 1918, meanwhile, would ...kill 50 million people - nearly 3% of the world's population. Here, Mark Honigsbaum outlines the history of influenza in the period, and describes how the fear of disease permeated Victorian culture. These fears were amplified by the invention of the telegraph and the ability of the new mass-market press to whip up public hysteria. The flu was therefore a barometer of wider fin de siecle social and cultural anxieties - playing on fears engendered by economic decline, technology, urbanisation and degeneration. A History of the Great Influenza Pandemics is a vital new contribution towards our understanding of European history and the history of the media.

'An honest and fascinating account of the journey that Tom made from discovering he was a type 2 diabetic to doing something about it. This book will change lives.' Michael Mosley 'Two years ago I turned 50, weighed 22 stone and was heavily medicated for type 2 diabetes. I though...t it would be all downhill from there. By radically changing my nutrition, cutting out sugar, and taking up exercise, I've changed my life and reversed my diabetes. I hope my story will inspire others to regain their health and happiness and discover the new lease of life I'm experiencing.' Tom Watson began to put on weight in his early twenties, having developed an appetite for fast food and cheap beer while studying at the University of Hull. As time progressed - and his penchant for anything sweet, fatty or fizzy persisted - he found himself adjusting his belt, loosening his collar and upsizing his wardrobe to XXL. He continued to pile on the pounds when he entered the world of politics as MP for West Bromwich East (despite short-lived flirtations with fad diets and fitness classes). By December 2014, his bathroom scales had tipped to 22 stone. After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in late 2015, he decided to take control of his diet and exercise. He started to feel better quickly and within a short time his long-term blood sugar levels were within normal range. By July 2018, he came off medication.

Modern life is so stressful and chaotic that we can easily become overwhelmed by the increasing demands placed upon us. Our minds are constantly whizzing from one thing to the next, leaving us weighed down with burden, struggling to sleep and plagued by stress. We need an antidot...e to all this stress. Even simply taking the time and space each day for a moment of calm can dramatically change the way we feel. That's where 100 Days of Calm comes in- a book full of imaginative and inspiring activities to help create these moments of clarity and peace every day - setting you firmly on the path to a happier and more tranquil life. From bigger tasks such as cultivating gratitude and practicing Tai Chi, to little pleasures like haiku writing, and star gazing - each activity in this book taps into an area of life that could use more calm and focus. Whether looking for new ideas, or help in finding that initial motivation, this book is for any reader seeking to inject some calm into their life.

In 1975 Wilfred Bion and I were invited by Professor Virginia Bicudo to spend the month of April in Brasilia. During that time Bion worked with individuals and groups, gave three lectures at the university, and took part in three panel discussions (entitled Brasilia, A New Experi...ence) at the Buriti Palace to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the founding of the city. Panel members, representing the arts and sciences, dealt with aspects of the character of the city and the prob-lems involved in forming and developing a new community. I have included his contributions to these discussions. In April 1978 we spent two weeks in Sao Paulo - our third visit. Bion held fifty clinical seminars, daily consultations, and ten evening meetings (published in Bion in New York and Sao Paulo). Such a volume of work demonstrates his remarkable vigour and stamina at the age of eighty.
