Profile is a highly personal selection of Jan's work from the early `90's to 2018. Jan's defining images cross all kinds of fashion barriers. His respect for the models he works with is evident. His models raw, sometimes slighty unconventional beauties quite often with very littl...e hair and make-up. Jan's images are pure, powerful and evocative, getting to the very soul of the subject. Whether its an androgynous looking girl with a cowboy hat, a model smoking a cigarette on a beach, a movie star or a picture of his wife or children, the pictures are captivating in their simplicity with a very clear style that belongs only to him. His approach to his craft remains unchanged over decades, his style clear, avant-gard and transcendent of trends. Featured are among others Cate Blanchett, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova, PJ Harvey, Drew Barrymore, Kirsten Owen, Kylie Minogue, Tatjana Patitz, Jessica Chastain, Christy Turlington, Tilda Swinton, Vanessa Paradis, Gisele Bundchen, Natalia Vodianova, Courtney Love, Doutzen Kroes, Laetitia Casta, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jennifer Connelly, Milla Jovovich, Bella Haddid and Helen Mirren.

The results of the election were hard to comprehend because they couldn't be understood through logical or rational thinking. The lack of comprehension of the results led to half the nation living in a continual state of bewilderment. Caleb Cain Marcus turned to photography as a ...means to make sense of and process his visceral reaction to the election. He photographed the blue sky because like our thoughts and minds it is abstract and seemingly undividable and yet humans create division with thoughts and ideas which have no physical presence. He used his work to move beyond the feeling of hopelessness and despondency. The first step of the process was to physically divide the prints by tearing them in half. The next step was to join the two pieces together and finally to apply gold leaf along the tear to create a continuous gold line. Through this physical intervention to the photographs every print becomes a unique expression of an attempt to leave behind the feelings that resulted from the election.

Juergen Teller: The Master V: Araki

This season sees the release of three new books in Juergen Teller's original and beloved Masters series. Teller made his first Master in 2005 as an homage to everything he believes is a master or masterful-be it a chef like Fergus Henderson, an artist like David Hamilton, his own... grandmother, Kurt Cobain, or a landscape-as well as a tongue-in-cheek recognition of himself as a master of his own photographic identity. The concept was simple: to produce an ongoing series of humble booklets, each at the same small size, with no text and as little design as possible, and bound as stapled softcovers in different colored cardboards-an antithesis to the standard overblown coffee-table book. Like past volumes in the series, Masters IV, V , and VI feature an unpredictable mix of Teller's eclectic photography: be it his unorthodox fashion work, still lifes and landscapes, celebrity and self-portraits, or images that slip between these genres. These books are dedicated to three of Teller's most important masters who have influenced both his work and outlook on life-Boris Mikhailov, Araki and William Eggleston-and feature new portraits of these photo- graphers. 'I don't like taking a sly picture on the side. I like the direct approach. I want to be as honest to myself and the subject as possible. And I'm depending on their humanness to come through.' -Juergen Teller

This limited edition to 30 copies includes one signed and numbered print entitled Yellow Road . The image is the same as the first limited of the pink beach scene, but then doing this one in yellow. The Hungry Years collects the early photographs of Jack Pierson, taken throughout... the 1980s-photographs that have increasingly captured the attention of the art world since they were first editioned in 1990. Informed in part by his artistic emergence in the era of AIDS, Pierson's work is moored by melancholy and introspection, yet his images are often buoyed by a celebratory aura of homoeroticism, seduction and glamour. Sometimes infused with a sly sense of humor, Pierson's work is inherently autobiographical; often using his friends as his models and referencing traditional Americana motifs, his bright yet distanced imagery reveals the undercurrents of the uncanny in the quotidian.

The London based photography duo Lucilla Barbieri and Fabrizio Coppi met in Milan in the early 90s and started to work together as Coppi Barbieri. In the following decades they have become among the most sought after still life photographers in the world crafting meticulous image...s for the likes of Apple, Chanel, Cartier, Estee Lauder, Fendi, Gucci, Harry Winston, Louis Vuitton, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Early Works 1992-1997 presents for the first time the experimental images they created together before their commercial career took off. Their first experiments involved flowers immersed in water, common household objects such as plastic bottles, and glassware, and back-lit dresses animated by fans. Their inspiration was the work of historical photographers and artists such as Andre Kertesz, Baron Adolph de Meyer, Josef Sudek and the painter Morandi. But they also injected the sensibility of fashion photographers working at that time such as Paolo Roversi and Javier Vallhonrat. Their slow process involved using single 5x7 film which lends the pictures in this book a unique quality and the feeling of belonging to another world.

In honor of Erwin Olaf's sixtieth birthday, Erwin Olaf: I Am presents the first comprehensive survey of his work, bringing together his earliest images in black and white with his now-iconic color work, including selections from his most recent and heretofore unpublished series s...hot in Shanghai. This chronological presentation traces the evolution of the artist from cheeky provocateur to royal portraitist, as well as the refinement of his unique vision and stylistic panache over the last four decades. Interspersed among the various series is a wry, incisive commentary by Olaf on the contexts of and inspirations for his work. The book is published to accompany the largest retrospective of Olaf's work to date, a multiple-venue show that will encompass installations at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; Gemeentemuseum Den Haag; and Fotomuseum Den Haag. Launching in February 2019, the show will subsequently travel to other venues in Europe, Shanghai, and the United States.

I was inspired by the way a car can steal the show. Think of iconic car chases in films- it's often about spectacle, and has little to do with advancing a narrative. And that's the way I think of these cars, as dead-end technologies, but also as high-performance machines which, f...or their audience, sought to reflect the spirit and attitudes of their time. -Matthew Porter Matthew Porter presents a portfolio of twenty-five images of old-school cars, captured in midair as they careen over city streets and highway intersections. Each photograph is a freeze-frame-a hypothetical film still from a pulp-fiction chase scene. The series seems, on one hand, to distill the essence of muscle-car Americana, a pop-cultural semaphore for the high-testosterone male persona. And yet, on the other, the subject-the all-American muscle car as antihero-is caught in an eternal state of suspended animation, while the various elements of the landscape in the background organize themselves around the edges of the frame. The resulting pictures are a hybrid of hyperreality and studied, topographic description, part bittersweet nostalgia and part ironic reinvention of a classic American trope.

talian Views is a continuation of Gail Albert Halaban's series Out My Window, featuring intimate domestic portraits against the cinematic backdrop of the city. In this new chapter, the artist shifts her focus from Paris to Italy-steadying her gaze through the windows of others in... communities throughout Florence, Milan, Venice, Palermo, Naples, Lucca, and Rome. Albert Halaban works with local residents to stage and collaborate on each portrait, and through her lens, the viewer is welcomed into the private lives of ordinary Italian people. Her photographs explore the conventions and tensions of urban lifestyles, feelings of isolation in the city, and the intimacies of home and daily life. Paired with the photographs are short vignettes by Albert Halaban, imagining what the neighbors might see of her subjects on a daily basis, and Francine Prose contributes a meditative essay discussing the curious thrill of being a viewer. This invitation to envision the lives of neighbors through windows renders the characters and settings of Italy personal and mysterious.

Toilet Paper is an artists' magazine created and produced by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, born out of a passion or obsession they both cultivate: images. The magazine contains no text; each picture springs from an idea, often simple, and through a complex orchestratio...n of people it becomes the materialization of the artists' mental outbursts. Since the first issue in June 2010, Toilet Paper has created a world that displays ambiguous narratives and a troubling imagination.
